Winter Engagement Photos in Central Park

SOPHIE + SEBASTIAN

Hey there, fellow romantics! Today we’re excited to share with you an engagement photoshoot in none other than the heart of New York City - Central Park. Sebastian and Sophie’s photos felt like they came straight out of a romcom! These photos are romantic, cinematic, candid, and they feel real.

We spent our time roaming around the park, finding some spots we liked. The first series of photos you’ll see are Sebastian and Sophie hanging out against a tree. Fun fact about this tree, it’s where Sophie and Sebastian shared their first kiss so it only felt right to start our session here. We talk about having a documentary approach when it comes to our photos and how we get those authentic feeling photos is by helping spark a moment with prompts. So to let you in on a little secret, here’s one of our favorite prompts and one that we used during this photoshoot. We set this shot up by having our couple face each other and get all wrapped up. We then have one person whisper something into the other person’s ear. We tell them that it can be something you think will make them laugh or tell them something you really love and admire about your partner. This helps spark an authentic moment and takes off some performance pressure by just being present with your partner. The key to this prompt is to have the person being whispered to have them turned towards you so you can see their face and catch their reaction. Sophie was so giggly and had the biggest smile on her face. It was the perfect moment! If you’re interested in learning more about prompting and what type of approach you’d like during photoshoots, feel free to check out our blog post on it here. It’s helpful information for both a photographer and a client to know!

We continued to venture around Central Park and found a cute rock with a great view of the water. We had Sebastian and Sophie sit on the rock and just take in the view. A lot of the photos you see from that section are unposed. We told them to sit by each other and talk amount themselves. Something that we always encourage our couples to do during a photoshoot is to not break contact whether that be with their eyes, lips, or hands. Always having some type of contact helps to really showcase that connection. We had the best time just running around with them.
