Wedding at The Elizabeth in Grand Bay, Alabama

ALEX + TARYN

Alex and Taryn have been friends of our for a few years and getting to photograph their wedding was beyond special! To get right into it, you know Bella and Edward’s wedding from Twilight? I mean, who doesn’t at this point? Pretty sure almost every bride has seen that wedding and fallen in love with it. In another life, our wedding looked like that haha! With that being said, Taryn had a vision of having that wide forest when planning her day which is what lead her to The Elizabeth in Grand Bay. The venue is absolutely stunning with its tall trees, greenery, and twinkling lights that cascade the area. Other than the scenery aspect of it all, Taryn and Alex knew that they wanted their day to be really intimate and intentional.

Alex and Taryn opted in for a first look which is something we always adore. It’s so sweet getting to see a couples reaction to seeing each for the first time, away from everyone else, minutes before they get married. It’s almost like you’re trapped in a moment of time, no one else around, just the two of you as you take it all in. Taryn didn’t know if Alex was going to be able to hold it in or not. Surely enough, all the tears and love come pouring out the second he saw her and she couldn’t hold it in either. We love when our couples get to really feel their emotions and be present with each other and the moment.

Another thing Alex and Taryn did that really set the tone for the day was having a foot washing ceremony. For those who aren'‘t familiar with what that is, a foot washing ceremony is where the couple take turns washing each other’s feet. In the Bible, Jesus washed each of the disciples’ feet. This ceremony represents love and humility. As Christ followers, Alex and Taryn wanted to do this selfless act to show how they truly value one another and will always have the Lord be at the center of their marriage. It was the most perfect way to showcase their love and commitment to one another.

Let’s just say that lots of tears were shed throughout the day, lots of joy radiated, and lots of love shown through every crack of light!
