Couples Photoshoot at Veterans Memorial Park in Pensacola, FL

BARBARA + KENNETH

If you tend to cry over strangers on the internet then go grab some tissues because this photoshoot might make you emotional. I can genuinely say that I’ve never cried more while editing a photoshoot because this one right here is so special. Meet Barbara and Kenneth Carden aka the original Barb and Ken as they like to say. These are my grandparents and some of my best friends.

To know these two is to know true love. It is to know true kindness, grace, joy, selflessness, and devotion. I wish I had all the words to describe them but there just aren’t any that really encapsulate their love story.

Nana and Papa had their first date the day he came back home from Germany where he was serving in the Army. The airport was their first time meeting in person but from the letters his mom (miss matchmaker) would send him talking about my Nana, it felt like they already knew each other. Both of them have always described meeting each other as love at first sight. They grabbed hot chocolate and talked for hours. You’ll always find these two dancing with each other and singing.

April 5th of this year will be 55 years of them being married. How incredibly special is it to share 55 years of your life alongside your best friend? All the memories you create together and all the stories you get to tell. They have six children and a LOT of grandchildren! Their love has created a legacy, one that I’m proud to be apart of.

I think that everyone grows up with an idea of what love should look like and I’m beyond grateful to have had such a healthy example to look up to. It’s rare that you see love like this. It’s real and raw. It’s young love even over all the years. It’s countless hours of hard work and dedication but with the right person it’s worth it.

My grandparents have always been some of my favorite people so getting to photograph their love and have these photos means the absolute world to me.

Long story short, I’m emotional and love these two. Also, this is your sign to get photos of your grandparents done.

Let’s capture your love story for lifetimes to come. Reach out here and let’s connect!
