Documentary Family Photoshoot at Inlet Beach

THE PLEMMONS

We had a blog post not too long ago that talked about how we were transitioning into a new era of family photoshoots and this is an expansion of that. If you didn't read that blog post, we basically talked about how we now have a documentary approach as our main focus when taking family photos and we’re so glad that the Plemmons wanted just that!

We chatted with Chelsea ahead of time and wanted to pick her brain on how she envisioned their photoshoot. She told us that she wanted photos that really captured the bond her family shared, specifically the sisterhood between her two little girls. Chelsea said that she really wanted her daughters to just be kids rather than forcing them to pose for an hour straight and they had the best experience roaming around the beach, twirling in their dresses, running from the waves, and hanging out with their parents. When the photoshoot had ended, one of their daughters said “This was the best time ever!” and we would have to agree! The Plemmons described themselves as fun, loving, joyful, and creative. Man, did they nail that description too because these photos could easily be summed up in those four words.

To start things off, we had them all just hangout together near the sand dunes where they posed for very few photos and then just chatted and hung out together. The girls started to play paddy cake at one point and it was so cute to just watch them. After sitting around for a bit, the girls decided that it was time to get closer to the ocean. They were just itching to touch it so we headed over to the water and chased some waves. Maybe more like the waves chased us and we ran from them. While the girls were occupied with each other and the water, we snuck in some parent portraits because parents deserve photos on their own too and the kids will one day look back and love those photos of them together. Logan and I absolutely love looking at photos of our parents from when they were younger. It’s like finding buried treasure every time we come across a new one.

We continued to play, run, dance, and laugh until the moon had finally said hello to us. We said goodbye to the random apple that we found on the shore and called it a night.
