Editorial Couples Photoshoot in NYC

LIDIA + HAYDEN

Logan and I frequently go to New York City whether it be to have a little vacation, see our friends and family, or for work. If we’re being honest though, being in the city for work doesn't feel like work. It’s a new adventure every time and we love it! We’ve even talked about moving there and who knows, maybe one day we will. For now though we just visit… a lot. In fact, we’re going back in October of this year and we’re super excited to be photographing some engagement sessions and a wedding. Let’s talk about this couples photoshoot though because it is so fun, editorial, and romantic!

Lidia and Hayden actually used to live here in Pensacola before they moved up to Manhattan for work. I have heavily stalked Lidia online for years (yes, I do stalk people on Instagram for model calls) and always thought that she was beyond stunning. So when we were in the city we thought how fun it’d be to try and connect with them and see if they wanted to do a photoshoot.

Growing up, I fell in love with the show Gossip Girl. The fashion, the city, the vibes! In the show, The Met’s stairs are a frequent hangout spot for the main characters so I thought what would be more fun and New York City than a Gossip Girl inspired photoshoot at The Met?! I created a mood board to try and show what my vision was for the photoshoot. I wanted it to be very editorial but also still having cutesy moments. Something that I love about styled shoots is bringing an idea to life from the ground up. When I brought the idea to them, they were down for it and super excited to be apart of the vision! Lidia discussed outfits ahead of time. I even made a little collage with some outfit ideas to show her and we played with some outfits in her closet to figure out what would be best. Fun fact, I actually had her change her outfit three hours before the photoshoot and she was such a trooper going along with my ideas and suggestions. In Gossip Girl, the main characters are often in their school uniforms outside of The Met so I wanted something similar to that for Lidia’s outfit. She wore one of Hayden’s white button ups, a tie, a mini skirt, and the cutest kitten heels! We had Hayden in an all cream outfit with a polo and slacks.

One thing we didn't anticipate with this photoshoot was weather. All day it was pretty sunny and seemed like everything would be fine but when we got to The Met it suddenly got a bit darker and gloomy, the wind was blowing like crazy, and it even looked like it would maybe rain. Thankfully it didn’t but the wind sure didn’t die down. It kind of worked in our favor though because it really added to the dramatics of it all. Lidia and Hayden took direction so well and perfectly executed every idea Logan and I had.

We moved on to our second location afterwards which was Central Park. We found this one spot that was super pretty, it was in front of Belvedere Castle. We later found out that someone moved the gate for that area and no one was supposed to be on the lawn for that area. Whoops! We found some other areas nearby and stopped at one spot that had gorgeous lighting. Those photos are very sweet, romantic, and feel very golden hour. We finished off the session by taking a photo together and talking a bit. We discovered that Logan had actually worked with Hayden’s dad at one point and laughed about the connection. Needless to say, we had a great time and got stunning photos!
